Emergency services are available at our main campus and at our Independence Healthcare Center.
Some of the area's most experienced emergency medicine physicians, physician assistants, APRNs, registered nurses (RNs) and emergency department (ED) technicians provide 24-hour care in our emergency departments.
In 2009, the American College of Surgeon's designated Labette Health's main campus ED as a level 3 trauma center, and in 2013, the Kansas Initiative for Stroke Survival recognized Labette Health as an Emergent Stroke Ready Facility.
The ED care teams have the training and expertise to provide optimal care for critical medical needs. Patients requiring specialty services are transferred through the coordinated efforts of local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and area air ambulances. Patients are triaged by experienced RNs according to their medical needs using the emergency severity index triage process.
Our emergency departments are dedicated to treating all ages and types of emergencies, including chest pain, trauma, orthopedic and women's health issues. All patients' vital signs are monitored through a central monitoring system located at the nursing station and at the physician's desk. Electronic medical record system with tracking boards and mobile work stations are utilized to improve efficiency and patient care.
Labette Health is proud to provide two emergency service locations for residents of southeast Kansas - at our main campus in Parsons and at our Independence Healthcare Center.
