Position Summary:

Labette Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Surgery to lead our high-performing surgical services team. This position is responsible for overseeing the operations, performance, and strategic direction of our surgical departments, including general surgery, surgical oncology, endoscopy, and minimally invasive/robotic procedures. The Director of Surgery will play a vital role in ensuring clinical excellence, patient safety, and compassionate care, in line with our mission to deliver world-class surgical services with heart, skill, and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for all surgical service lines, including operating rooms, pre-op, PACU, sterile processing, and endoscopy.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance surgical outcomes, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and administration to ensure seamless interdisciplinary teamwork.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.).

  • Lead initiatives related to quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety.

  • Manage staffing, budgeting, and supply chain needs for surgical operations.

  • Facilitate the integration and utilization of advanced technologies, including da Vinci Robotic Surgery and minimally invasive procedures.

  • Promote professional development and training opportunities for the surgical team.


Qualifications:

  • RN with BSN required; MSN or related Master’s degree preferred. Other clinical backgrounds (e.g., Surgical Tech, PA, NP) considered with relevant leadership experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in surgical services with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Strong knowledge of perioperative best practices, regulatory requirements, and patient-centered care models.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive clinical excellence.
