Summary:

Surgery Registered Nurse Circulator is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the operating room, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for patients undergoing surgery. This role involves coordinating patient care before, during, and after surgery, managing surgical equipment, and supporting the surgical team in providing high-quality care and achieving optimal surgical outcomes. The Circulator works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and proper procedural execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure.

  • Monitor patient status and provide assistance during surgery.

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.

  • Maintain a sterile environment and ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are available and functioning.

  • Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure timely delivery of instruments and supplies.

  • Assist with preparing and setting up the operating room.

  • Document patient care and surgical details in medical records.

  • Monitor patient progress during the surgery and communicate with the team.

  • Assist in managing emergencies or complications during surgery.

  • Provide immediate support in crisis situations.

Education Requirements:

  • Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state nursing license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in perioperative or surgical nursing preferred.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required. Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) is preferred.
