Description:
Summary: Supervises the day-to-day performance of work in Hematology, in addition to performing regular duties such as tests and procedures. Coordinates laboratory education activities, and assists with the laboratory safety and quality program.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting test results
- Resolution of technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the laboratory director or technical supervisor
- Monitoring of test performance
- Ensuring that remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
- Providing orientation of testing personnel
- Assess the competency of high complexity testing personnel, if delegated in writing by the section director
- Conducts routine tests for the use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and performs related duties, following established standards and practices under the supervision of a technologist.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing. ASCP CLS or MT, MLT considered with 6 plus years exp.
