Summary: A Registration Specialist is responsible for efficiently and accurately registering patients for services at Labette Health. This includes collecting and verifying personal, insurance, and medical information and ensuring the accurate input of data into the healthcare system. The Registration Specialist serves as a key point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with all administrative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1.Greet patients and gather necessary demographic, insurance, and medical information.

2.Verify patient identity and insurance coverage, ensuring the accuracy of details entered into the system.

3.Obtain signatures on consent forms, financial responsibility forms, and other required documentation.

4.Ensure all required information is captured for billing and coding purposes.

5.Provide excellent customer service by answering patient questions and addressing concerns.

6.Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and other departments

7.Accurately input patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system.

8.Update and maintain patient files and records in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.

9.Review and resolve any discrepancies in patient information to ensure completeness and accuracy.

10.Verify insurance coverage and benefits, and inform patients of any financial responsibility.

11.Obtain pre-authorizations for procedures as needed and ensure necessary documentation is obtained

12.Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling

13.Assist in training and mentoring new staff members as necessary.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare or medical office setting is preferred.

Certifications: CPR
