Exercise and arthritis can (and do) go together

Exercise and arthritis aren't mutually exclusive. In fact, an exercise program can actually help to ease troublesome arthritis pain. But you should choose activities that are easy on the joints. Try a weekly workout mix made up of some of these activities.

Exercises easy on your arthritis

Aerobics. Walking, swimming, biking.

Strengthening. Calisthenics, weight training, pilates.

Felxibility. Stretching the shoulders, neck and hamstring; reach for your toes; group flexibility classes, such as yoga.

Talk with your doctor about your exercise plans. Together, you can come up with a fitness schedule that is right for you and your body.
