You will be amazed at our changes. We’re nearing the completion of the second phase of our five-year $32 million expansion and renovation project. When you visit, you will still see a few hard hats and construction zones, but you’ll also see a bright, clean, modern facility waiting to serve you and your family’s healthcare needs.
We’re centering around you with new buildings, new physician offices and clinics, new examination, procedure, laboratory and therapy areas, all designed to provide you with the most up-to-date, effective and compassionate care possible.
Come and see the new Labette Health. When you visit, here are some of the changes you’ll notice.
Front Entrance and lobby
As you enter under the new drive-through canopy, you’ll see our promise above the door – “We Center Around You.” In the bright, spacious main lobby, you’ll be greeted by a friendly concierge who will direct you to your destination. There’s an information desk staffed by our cheerful Pink Ladies. Nearby are admissions, business representatives and the main elevator lobby. If you’re there for an outpatient lab test, the laboratory area is right around the corner.
‘Mainstreet’ Corridor
A wide sunlit corridor runs all the way from the north Emergency/Express Care entrance to the south entrance of the Medical Office Building. Along the way, you can pause at the large window overlooking our laboratory, visit the gift shop or grab a bite in our new dining area.
Cafeteria and Food Service
The Cafeteria is now being remodeled and will reopen later this fall with a bright, new dining space off the main entrance lobby. A new “Grab ‘n Go Café” is now open in the former First Floor Conference Room. A salad bar will be available daily, along with a hot bar with special “made to order” menu items such as omelets, po’ boys, nachos and stir-fries. A dining area has opened in the triangle area of the front lobby. A new conference room has opened in the former Radiology area.
Emergency/ExpressCare entrance
A new all-weather canopy is being added to the north entrance. During construction, a temporary Emergency/ExpressCare entrance is immediately adjacent to the construction area.
Rector Diabetes Education
and Resource Center
Construction on the Rector Center Project is now underway, with completion scheduled for November. The 2,000-square-foot freestanding facility will include a library, meeting space and a demonstration kitchen.
The Center of Rehabilitation Excellence The 15,000-square-foot Center of Rehabilitation Excellence (CORE) at the south end of the Labette Health campus will house our Outpatient Rehabilitation Department, as well as two therapeutic swimming pools and a medically based fitness center designed for “the other 80 percent” – people who would not normally join a fitness center but need a professionally designed exercise and fitness program.
Medical Office Building
The new Medical Office Building will provide three floors of office and clinic space for physicians and allow for consolidation of other clinical services, all designed to provide our patients with the most comfortable and friendly experience possible. The building is designed with state-of-the-art electronic medical records (EMR) technology that will go online the day it opens.
New Surgical Facilities
Two new operating suites have been added, and two existing suites have been renovated with the latest in surgical technology. We also are adding two endoscopy suites, 13 pre-and post-operative rooms and three consulting/pre-admission rooms. A new, more convenient entrance from the east parking area to the renovated outpatient surgery area is now under construction.
New Laboratory Facilities
What you’ll see from the Mainstreet Corridor or the outpatient reception area is only the tip of the iceberg. Our laboratory is so state-of-the-art that medical professionals from as far away as Pennsylvania have toured our new facility.
Women’s Center and Radiology
A new dedicated Women’s Center will include mammography, DexaScan and space for patient education programs. There will be private waiting and dressing areas – with in-suite restrooms – as well as new offices and reading rooms for our radiologists.
New Administration, Education
and Meeting Areas
When The CORE opens, work will begin on relocating administrative offices and meeting facilites to the former Outpatient Rehabilitation space. The new area will include three classrooms with movable walls, as well as a Board Room.
Parking and Traffic Flow
Access is easier than ever before, thanks to a new south entrance from U.S. 59 that will access The CORE, the Rector Center and the new Medical Office Building. A new parking area that will serve that area will be finished soon.
